Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Friday accused President Donald Trump of spreading “sexist trash” after he tweeted an edited video of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that made it seem like she was stuttering.

Clinton, who was the 2016 Democratic nominee, said Trump and “his cronies” are “running around spreading a doctored video of Nancy Pelosi” during remarks at the Harris County Democratic Party’s annual JRR luncheon in Houston, Texas.

“Now it is sexist trash,” she said, which was met with cheers and applause. “But it is also a sign that Trump is running scared.

“So if you believe in the rule of law and the responsibility that we all have to hold our leaders accountable. Then we cannot relent on this front either,” she said.

Wait, is that video real?: The race against deepfakes and dangers of manipulated recordings

Trump on Thursday evening tweeted a Fox Business video that selectively spliced together clips of Pelosi so she looked like she was stuttering. The video also had commentary from Fox Business political analyst Ed Rollins, who accused Pelosi of becoming “worn down.”

The video that the president shared came hours after a doctored video of Pelosi began spreading across social media that was edited to make her seem drunk.

Clinton was the victim of fake videos during the 2016 election, which were designed to make her seem sick while campaigning.
